Synchronicity and a New Website Design.
I offered my website design services to Derek Power when he was looking for a new web designer to update his website Artists4Film.com and I was very happy when he gave me the project. Artists4Film.com is the site for both Derek Power and his wife Ilene Kahn Power since they work in similar industries: Talent Management & International Production, respectively.
The day that of our first meeting in Santa Barbara is memorable for me because of the synchronicity involved. We had spoken on the phone a couple of days earlier and he had mentioned his involvement with the band The Police in the 1980s. I know this may sound strange to some people, but I have a phenomenon in my life where I often will meet people with the same name (usually just the first name) on the same day or within a short period of time. It feels like a little game the universe is playing with me. It’s been happening for quite a long time, but recently I have noticed it more and more and have been more intrigued by it. On the day that I was to meet with Derek Power in person to discuss his website project, I realized that the day before I first spoke to Derek Power, I had also first spoke to a man named Derek Towers. This was another one of those coincidental experiences that I didn’t have a name for, I wondered if other people were experiencing things like this. So I Googled something like “meeting people with the same name” and the word “Synchronicity” kept showing up in the search results. I read the definition of “Synchronicity” and realized that I never knew the Jungian meaning of the word. I had assumed that it just meant the one meaning: “the quality or fact of being synchronous”. The Jungian meaning is “the simultaneous occurrence of events that appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection” and that applies to the phenomenon of me meeting unrelated people with the same or a similar name. There’s a lot of synchronicity to me learning what Jungian synchronicity means on the day that I met Derek Power who worked with the Police during the period that they created the album Synchronicity. Other than Derek, I only told a few people about me finally learning what synchronicity meant, one of those people then told me that his middle name is Derek, then another of the 3 people that I told reminded me that her son’s name is Derek. Wow!
The new Artists4Film.com is online now. It’s nicely responsive, it looks good and now is ready for more new content, clients and projects, soon to be added. Both Ilene Kahn Power and Derek Power have been and are now involved with some very interesting projects and clients.
